Beargrass, (real name, Xerophyllum), is a grass closely related to the lily and is native to North America. A fragrant white flower grows from the base on a long stalk. Other common names for Beargrass are: Soap Grass, Quip-Quip, Squaw Grass and Indian Basket Grass.
Beargrass was used extensively by American Indians to weave baskets. The Beargrass turned from olive green to white in the sun and could then be dyed vibrant colours.
In the wholesale flower markets Beargrass is sold in weighted bunches. There are usually around 130 - 150 pieces of grass per bunch. Stem lengths vary between 60 and 70cm.

Beargrass (Xerophyllum)
To get the best from your wholesale cut beargrass please read the care instructions below carefully:
- There is no need to cut the stems.
- Fill sterilised buckets with luke warm water and add flower food.
- Place the beargrass in the buckets.
- Leave over night to condition before using.
Never leave cut foliage in direct sun light, near a radiator, in a draft or near fruit. (The gas used to ripen fruit may harm most foliages). Keep the beargrass in a cool place and always keep out of the way of children.
