Chamaerops is a genus of the Arecaceae family and is the only fan palm native to continental Europe.
Chamaerops leaves are set in a rounded palm shape and consist of 10 - 20 leaflets. Sharp needles are produced from the leaf stem to protect the growing stem from animals.
The large leaves are used to weave baskets, make mats, carrying baskets and brooms.
The fruits from the chamaerops have been used in medicines as an astringent because of their high tannin content.
In the wholesale flower markets Chamaerops Palms are available as a cut foliage. There are usually two options: Large Chamaerops - 50cm from stem to leaf tops, and Mini Chamaerops - 40cm from stem to leaf tops. Mini Chamaerops have short stumpy leaves, as shown on the picture.

Caring for
Chamaerops Palm
To get the best from your wholesale cut chamaerops palms please read the care instructions below carefully:
- Cut the stems at a 45 degree angle with a sharp knife.
- Fill sterilised buckets with warm water and add flower food.
- Place the chamaerops in the buckets.
- Leave over night to condition before using.
Never leave cut foliage in direct sun light, near a radiator, in a draft or near fruit. (The gas used to ripen fruit will harm some foliages). Keep the chamaerops in a cool place and always keep out of the way of children.
