Liatris, (otherwise known as Blazing Star, Button Snakeroot and Gay-Feather), is a genus of the Asteraceae family and native to the Bahamas, North America and Mexico.
Liatris is grown commercially for the wholesale flower trade and is sold in wraps of 10 or 50 stems. Stem lengths vary between 60cm - 100cm tall.
Although liatris is mainly available in purple flower, there is a white variety called Liatris Alba. Liatris Alba is not very reliable - it is always weak and often moulds quickly.
Liatris looks great when used in wedding flowers for pedestals and large church flower arrangements.

Liatris
To get the best from your wholesale cut liatris please read the care instructions below carefully:
- Cut the stems at a 45 degree angle with a sharp knife.
- Strip the lower foliage from the stems - if not it will go black.
- Fill sterilised buckets with luke warm water and add flower food.
- Place the liatris in the buckets.
- Leave over night to condition before using.
Never leave cut flowers in direct sun light, near a radiator, in a draft or near fruit. (The gas used to ripen fruit will harm most flowers). Keep the liatris in a cool place and always keep out of the way of children.
