Lysimachia, (otherwise known as Loosestrife), is a genus of the Myrsinaceae family and prefer to grow in damp conditions.
The larvae of butterflies and moths feed vigorously on lysimachia flowers.
On the wholesale flower markets there are two main cut varieties of lysimachia available. (1), Lysimachia Clethroides – very similar looking to white veronica but with larger leaves and a spike shaped flower head and, (2), Lysimachia Vulgaris – a more branched plant with clumps of yellow flowers at the top of the main central stem.
Lysimachia Clethroides are very popular wedding flowers. Lysimachia Vulgaris is not.
In the wholesale flower markets lysimachia is sold in wraps of 10 stems and is usually no taller than 70cm.

Lysimachia
To get the best from your wholesale cut lysimachia please read the care instructions below carefully:
- Cut the stems at a 45 degree angle with a sharp knife.
- Strip the lower foliage from the stems.
- Fill sterilised buckets with luke warm water and add flower food.
- Place the lysimachia in the buckets.
- Leave over night to condition before using.
Never leave cut flowers in direct sun light, near a radiator, in a draft or near fruit. (The gas used to ripen fruit will harm most flowers). Keep the lysimachia in a cool place and always keep out of the way of children.
