Symphoricarpos (Snowberries)

Symphoricarpos, (commonly known as Snowberry and Waxberry), is a member of the honeysuckle family, Caprifoliaceae and are native to North and Central America.

Symphoricarpos leaves are deep green and oval in shape. The pearl shaped berries range in colour from white through different shades of pink and grow in clusters at the end of branched stems. When symphoricarpos berries are broken, the seeds inside look like sparkling snow.

Although Symphoricarpos berries are poisonous to humans, they are a vital source of food for pheasant, grouse and quail.

Symphoricarpos is available in cut form on the wholesale flower markets and is sold in wraps of 10 stems. Stem length is usually around 75cm tall.

Why not give Symphoricarpus a try in your next wedding flower project for something a little different?

Caring for Symphoricarpos (Snowberries)

To get the best from your wholesale cut symphoricarpos please read the care instructions below carefully:

  • Cut the stems at a 45 degree angle with a sharp knife.
  • Fill sterilised buckets with luke warm water and add flower food.
  • Place the symphoricarpos in the buckets.
  • Leave over night to condition before using.

Never leave cut flowers in direct sun light, near a radiator, in a draft or near fruit. (The gas used to ripen fruit will harm most flowers). Keep the symphoricarpos in a cool place and always keep out of the way of children.
