Cotinus

Cotinus

Cotinus, (otherwise known as Smoke Bush and Smoke Tree), is a genus of the Anacardiaceae family and is native to the Northern Hemisphere.

Cotinus leaves are a lovely oval shape and the flowers are clustered in large, open panicles that give a fluffy, smoke like appearance - hence the common names 'smoke bush' & 'smoke tree'.

In the wholesale flower markets, cotinus is sold as a cut foliage and is becoming increasingly popular for its use in wedding flowers these days. Stem lengths vary between 60-70cm and it is available in wraps of 10 stems.

To get the best from your wholesale cut cotinus please read the care instructions below carefully:

  • Cut the stems at a 45 degree angle with a sharp knife.
  • Strip the lower foliage from the stems.
  • Fill sterilised buckets with luke warm water and add flower food.
  • Place the cotinus in the buckets.
  • Leave over night to condition before using.

Never leave cut flowers in direct sun light, near a radiator, in a draft or near fruit. (The gas used to ripen fruit will harm most flowers). Keep the cotinus in a cool place and always keep out of the way of children.
