Cycas Revoluta Palms
Cycas Revoluta Palms, (often called Sago Palms or King Sago), are native to Southern Japan. Although always referred to as a 'palm', it is not a palm at all - it is a Cyad'.
Cycas leaves are extremely symmetrical with tight clusters of glossy dark green leaves running along a central spine. The leaves are very sharp and spiteful.
Cycas Revoluta is a very popular bonsai plant but is also extremely poisonous to animals and humans. All parts of the Cycas is toxic with 'cycasin', but the seeds carry the most.
In the wholesale cut flower markets cut Cycas palms are available in bunches of 10 stems. Cycas palm leaves are usually between 60 and 70cm tall.
