Hypericum

Hypericum is a genus of the Clusiaceae family and is also widely known as St. Johns Wort. There are 100's of varieties, though they are all known as hypericum. Hypericums properties are widley used in medicine, especially in homeopathy, used for treating depression.
Hypericum is commercially grown in great quantity for the floristry industry where it's always sold in berry. Although particularly popular in the autumn time, hypericum is more or less available all year round. Christmas time is probably the biggest demand when it is also available dip painted in metallic gold, silver, red and bronze.
In the wholesale flower markets hypericum is sold in wraps of 25 stems and stem lengths vary from 55 - 90cm depending on variety and grade. We now import a fair amount of hypericum from Ecuador because it is much stronger stemmed and has larger berries than most Dutch grown hypericum. Varieties of hypericum with green, peach & white berries are becoming very popular for wedding flowers.

To get the best from your wholesale cut hypericum please read the care instructions below carefully:
- Cut the stems at a 45 degree angle with a sharp knife.
- Fill sterilised buckets with luke warm water and add flower food.
- Place the hypericum in the buckets.
- Leave over night to condition before using.
Never leave cut flowers in direct sun light, near a radiator, in a draft or near fruit. (The gas used to ripen fruit will harm most flowers). Keep the hypericum in a cool place and always keep out of the way of children.
