A uniquely stunning flower, Gloriosa is a genus of the Colchicaceae family. Gloriosa is also known as The Flame Lily, Fire Lily, Glory Lily, Superb Lily and Creeping Lily. Gloriosa is native to Africa and Asia and is the national flower of Zimbabwe - it is also the state flower of Tamil Nadu in India.
All parts of the gloriosa plant are toxic if ingested. Gloriosa contains colchicine, the highest concentration being in the roots. One 10th of an once of gloriosa root can kill an adult!.Always keep gloriosa out of reach of young children.
Gloriosa is wholesaled in sealed bags of 5 stems and are available in two stem lengths: 25cm - single heads on short stems used in the floristry trade to float in water, include in arrangements, make button holes for wedding flowers etc., and 65cm - multiple flower heads on long stems for trailing and hanging uses - usually no more than 3/4 flowers per stem.
Commercially, fresh cut gloriosa is available in red, but from time to time, cerise and orange varieties are seen in the wholesale flower markets.

To get the best from your wholesale cut gloriosa please read the care instructions below carefully:
- Refrigerate in the air tight bags until they are needed.
- Strip the foliage from the vines that will be under water.
- Always cut the stems underwater with a sharp knife.
- Fill a sterilsed bucket with luke warm water and add flower food.
- Leave to hydrate for at least two hours before use.
Never leave cut flowers in direct sun light, near a radiator, in a draft or near fruit. (The gas used to ripen fruit will harm most flowers). Keep the gloriosa in a cool place and always keep out of the way of children. Always were gloves when handling gloriosa as it is poisonous!
