Astrantia

Astrantia, (otherwise known as Great Masterwort), is a genus of the same family as Cow Parsley – the Apiaceae family.
Astrantia has fast become an extremely popular flower in cottage gardens over the past few years because of its daisy shaped flowers with a pretty pin-cushioned centre. The flowers spray from the stem in long bracts.
Astrantia is a very popular flower for drying due to the strong stems and robust flowers. To dry astrantia, simply hang upside down in a warm, dark and dry place.
Astrantia is available on the wholesale flower markets as a cut flower and is sold in wraps of 10 or 20 stems. Astrantia is usually no more than 60cm tall in stem length.
In 2010 astrantia made an emergence as a very popular wedding flower due to vintage wedding flowers being in vogue.

To get the best from your wholesale cut astrantia please read the care instructions below carefully:
- Cut the stems at a 45 degree angle with a sharp knife.
- Fill sterilised buckets with luke warm water and add flower food.
- Place the astrantia in the buckets.
- Leave over night to condition before using.
Never leave cut flowers in direct sun light, near a radiator, in a draft or near fruit. (The gas used to ripen fruit will harm most flowers). Keep the astrantia in a cool place and always keep out of the way of children.
