Christmas Candle Stand Arrangement with Fresh Flowers

Easy

Step by step instructions

  1. On receipt, condition the flowers and greenery supplied in the kit overnight (or at least for a couple of hours). Simply follow the conditioning advice on the leaflet supplied in the box.

  2. Soak the floral foam in water for a couple of minutes. In a sink or bucket of water, float the posy pad on the water and wait until it has sunk to the bottom of the container. Do not force the foam under the water.

  3. Create a candle holder to secure the candle to the foam posy pad. Cut the plant garden cane into 4 small pieces using a sharp pair of scissors and fix onto the bottom of the candle with the tape supplied. It can be quite fiddly!

  4. Once complete, push into the centre of the floral foam posy pad.

  5. Once the flowers and greenery have been conditioned, work with the greenery first. Begin by creating an outline with the greenery supplied. Cut the greenery into small pieces and insert into the foam.

  6. Next, add the roses to the design. Cut the stems at an angle, slit the stems up to increase the surface area exposed to the water and remove the guard petals (if desired).

  7. Continue to add the intermediate and filler flowers to reinforce the shape and emphasise the focal flowers. You can break up one stem (depending on variety) into a couple of pieces to distribute across the design evenly.

  8. Finally add the spray chrysanthemum into the design at a low position to give recession.

  9. Fill any gaps with leftover greenery.

  10. Top tip: Depending on the quality, remember to use the rose and any other flowers' foliage to fill in any gaps low in the design. 'You pay for the entire stem, so you may aswell use it!'
