Peonies

Peonies are one of the most loved seasonal flowers, known for their large, romantic blooms and soft ruffled petals. They are extremely popular for weddings, events and spring arrangements.
Peonies are notoriously difficult to predict and have always been a florist's nightmare. This is because the flower bud opening time depends on how developed they are when picked and sent to auction, the ambient weather (temperature) and specific variety. As a wholesaler, it is difficult for us to advise on when to order them.

When Should I Order Peonies?
We recommend delivery 3-4 days before the event. Peonies normally arrive in tight bud and require time to open. They should be monitored carefully as they can open quickly when warm.

Step by step Conditioning Guide
To get the best from your wholesale cut peonies, please read the care instructions below carefully
1. Carefully remove all packaging
2. Remove any leaves that will sit below the waterline
3. Cut 2-3cm off each stem at a sharp angle with scissors, secateurs or florist knife
4. May need to wash flower heads with water as can have sticky residue on and dry with damp cloth.
5. Place immediately into fresh, clean water. Store in a cool, low lit environment
6. Allow time for the buds to open naturally. Never leave cut flowers in direct sunlight, near a radiator, in a draft or near fruit. Away from children
7. Move to a slightly warmer room if you need them to open faster
To prevent the peonies opening too quickly, leave the wrappers on whilst conditioning OR re-wrap in bunches of 5 or 10 stems with the brown paper (supplied). This will hold back the development of the flowers.
