We recommend delivery 2-3 days before the event. This allows time for hydration and for the stems to strengthen. They should be stored upright in clean water and kept cool.

Step by Step Conditioning Guide

1. Prepare your equipment for conditioning the flowers. You will need a tall container or bucket, fresh clean water and boxes of Gerbera/Germini.

2. Most often, Gerbera and Germini are delivered in secure boxes.

3. The inner shell is attached to the box with staples. Remove safely and you will be able to slide out the Gerbera and lay on a free surface. Once you have removed the inner shell from the box, you can now start the conditioning process. Cut the stems at a 45 degree angle with sharp scissors or knife.

4. Fill sterilised buckets of water and add flower food (optional).

5. Place the gerbera in the buckets upright with the heads supported (using the box) or alternatively a draining board/rack. Leave overnight to condition before using.

6. Never leave cut flowrs in a direct sunlight, near a radiator or near fruit. Keep the gerbera in a cool place and always keep out of the way of children.

Common Problems & Solutions

Bent stems: Usually caused by poor hydration or deep water. Re-cut and place in the shallow water.

Drooping heads: Support the flowers upright and allow them time to hydrate.

Slimy stems: Gerbera stems can soften in dirty or deep water. Use clean buckets and shallow water.

Damaged petals: Keep heads protected until arranging. Remove any bruised petals carefully.
